テーマ：「世界のエネルギー動向とCCUS等による現実的脱炭素化への努力」

世界でカーボンニュートラル（CN）の実現に向けた取組が進展する一方、世界各地での緊迫化や国際紛争、AI・データセンターの普及による電力需要の増加等により、エネルギーの安全保障と安定供給の重要性が改めて認識されています。このような状況の下、各国は脱炭素化、エネルギーの安全保障と安定供給、経済発展の同時達成を目指し、現実的かつ公正なエネルギートランジションを模索しています。再生可能エネルギーや原子力に加え、CCUS、高効率発電、水素・アンモニア利用など、多様な脱炭素技術への期待が高まっています。特にCCUSは、電力部門のみならず、鉄鋼、セメント、化学産業など排出削減が困難な分野においても重要な選択肢として位置付けられています。
本会議では、世界のエネルギー動向や各国の政策・産業界の取組を共有するとともに、CCUSをはじめとする革新的脱炭素化技術の役割と可能性について議論し、エネルギー安全保障と脱炭素化の両立に向けた現実的な方策と国際協力の在り方を議論します。

Theme: Global Energy Situation and Efforts toward Realistic Decarbonization via CCUS

While efforts toward carbon neutrality (CN) continue to advance worldwide, the importance of energy security and a stable energy supply has been increasingly recognized in light of escalating tensions in various areas of the world, ongoing international conflicts, and growing electricity demand driven by the rapid expansion of AI and data centers.

Under these circumstances, countries around the world are seeking pragmatic and just energy transition pathways that simultaneously achieve decarbonization, energy security and supply stability, and economic development. In addition to renewable energy and nuclear power, growing attention is being paid to a wide range of decarbonization technologies including CCUS, high-efficiency power generation, and the utilization of hydrogen and ammonia.

In particular, CCUS is regarded as a key decarbonization option not only for the power sector but also for hard-to-abate industries such as steel, cement, and chemicals.

The symposium will provide a platform to share global energy trends as well as policy initiatives and industry efforts undertaken by various countries and areas. Participants will discuss the role and potential of innovative decarbonization technologies, including CCUS, and explore practical approaches and frameworks for international cooperation that can contribute to achieving both energy security and decarbonization.
